Your Pain and Suffering Might Lead to Claims for Compensation

The pain and suffering that you have to deal with after a car accident can be life-altering. Even if the accident wasn’t too serious, there can still be serious impacts. The pain and suffering is one aspect that might lead to a claim for compensation.

The damages that you can seek because of a car accident vary based on the circumstances of the injury. Obviously, you could seek damages for the cost of the medical care you needed. If this is the case, make sure that you factor in what your insurance company paid because that company might come after you for repayment if the claim for compensation is successful.

You might also be able to add in claims for mental anguish, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life. These damages are all based off of the quality of life you have now based on what you had before the accident. Keeping a journal might help you show these changes.

Making a claim for the loss of your income might also be possible. Even if you are able to work some, but not to the same capacity as you were before your accident, you might be able to seek compensation for lost wages. Keeping track of your income and what you’ve missed might be helpful in this case.

There might be other options that you can explore for your case. Making a comprehensive claim is imperative because you can’t come back and ask for more money down the road if you find out that you didn’t seek enough from the beginning.
