Psychological damage can come after a car crash

People who are in a car crash might suffer from long-term effects of the accident. These problems aren't always physical. In some cases, people might suffer from mental effects of the crash. This can make life very difficult, partly because other people can't see the mental damage that was done. Some people might even think that you are just trying to get sympathy for the accident.

We understand that there are many different psychological changes that can come after a car crash. Some of these changes might have only small impacts on your life, but others can railroad your life. You might find it difficult to get into a vehicle again. You may suffer from serious post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that makes it impossible to work or live your life.

There is a car crash resulting in injuries at an average rate of one every 10 seconds. Of these car crashes, around one-third of victims will suffer from some sort of psychological trauma one year after the accident. The impacts of this trauma can range from sleep changes to debilitating anxiety. Depression and phobias of driving or of certain colors or makes of vehicles might also occur.

When you are suffering from these impacts of a car crash, you may decide to seek compensation for the financial damages you've suffered. These damages, as well as noneconomic damages might help you to recover financially. We can help you learn about your options so that you can determine what you'd like to do to hold the driver who hit you accountable.
